To participate and have your own page added into the book, here's what you can do:

  • Start with a sheet of paper 12" x 12." Please use paper, not card stock or heavy paper (the pages will be tipped into the final book, and they should turn easily with other pages in the book).
  • Add your words, text, poetry, images, colors or whatever you'd like to say about acts of loving kindness.
  • Bring your completed page to the February or March CBAC meeting.

Studio Time & Book Pockets

Our next meeting will be on Sunday, January 22
2:00 -5:00 p.m.
Jewish Cultural Center
5461 N. Terrace Drive
Chattanooga, TN 37411

This meeting will give everyone a chance to work on individual book projects that just haven’t gotten finished (we all have them!).  We will be focusing on filling the pages.  Bring blank books that you’ve made and/or books that you would like to alter.

If you are stuck and need some creative ideas on a project, bring it along too.  We are a group of creative thinkers, and we will share ideas with each other.

Mandy Wilson will lead a demo on creating pockets in books that can be used for content and visual interest in books.

If you have created pockets in any of your own books, please bring them to the meeting to show the group. The work of others in our group is always inspiring.

We will also be starting a new project – creating our own individual pages for a community book.  Details will be provided at the meeting.

Here are the supplies you should bring with you to the meeting:
  • Blank book or a book you want to alter
  • Stamps and stamp pads
  • Assorted papers of all sizes and colors
  • Photo images or any other content you’d like to include in your book
  • Glue of your choice (PVA, Sobo, rubber cement)
  • Glue brush
  • Scissors
  • Markers and pens
  • Paper towels
  • Newsprint or other paper to protect your workspace

As always, everyone is welcome, from beginners to advanced book artists.  If you've been thinking about attending CBAC, please come join us.

November 20th - Book Exchange at our New Location

Join us 2:00-5:00 p.m. for the Sunday, November 20th CBAC meeting at:

Jewish Cultural Center
5461 North Terrace Drive
Chattanooga TN 37411

For driving directions, see the "CBAC Meetings" tab on this website.

At this meeting, we will be doing our very first "Handmade Book Exchange."  All you have to do is bring a handmade book that you have created.  Be sure to sign your name in your book...we all know that art is worth much more if it is hand-signed by the artist!  Bring your book in a plain brown paper bag.

All bags will be numbered, and then we will draw numbers.  You will take home a one-of-a-kind handmade book by one of the fine book artists in our group.

Participation in the Book Exchange is optional, but if you don't bring one of your own books, you don't get to take home one of the fabulous creations that will be brought by other group members.

This meeting will be a great opportunity to see the amazing work that is happening in Chattanooga!

We will probably have a little extra time, so there will also be short demos on making small boxes from dollar bills and from paper.  These can come in handy for the holidays.

Bring the following supplies with you to the meeting:
- Two crisp dollar bills
- 8 sheets of colored, decorative or origami paper, cut to 6" x 6"
(4 of one color, 4 of another coordinating color or pattern is good)

If you'd like to look at a couple tutorials for the origami boxes in advance, use the following links:
